Master of Wine to speak on entrepreneurship

Master of Wine Doug Frost to speak on Friday.

Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost will present “Entrepreneurship in the Beverage Industry” to the Oklahoma State University community on Friday, April 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Taylor’s Dining Room at the College of Human Sciences.  Frost is one of only three individuals in the world to simultaneously hold both master of wine and master sommelier titles, each requiring that candidates meet the most challenging standards in the industry.

Catherine Curtis, an assistant professor in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration and Riata Fellow, describes Frost as an excellent role model.  “This is a great opportunity to hear a world renowned expert from the wine industry,” said Curtis.  “He has an amazing career and is a wonderful example of a true entrepreneur.”

Frost is known for his extensive writing about wine. He is the author of several books and he has written numerous articles for publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle, Wine & Spirit and Epicurious.com. He is the beverage columnist for the James Beard award-winning food section of the Kansas City Star.  Frost consults with retailers, restaurateurs, wineries and distillers in the areas of marketing merchandising, sales, education and sensory perception. He is the recipient of the 2009 Cheers Beverage Industry Innovator of the Year Award.
