Mortar Board names top ten freshmen
Monday, September 30, 2013
The Achafoa Chapter of Mortar Board at Oklahoma State University has selected twenty students as the Top Ten Freshmen women and Top Ten Freshmen men for 2013.
A total of 40 students, who are now sophomores, underwent a second round of interviews from OSU faculty, staff and students before the selection was narrowed to the top ten men and top ten women on campus. The honor is based on scholarship, leadership and service during their freshman year.
“This group of men and women are a wonderful representation of our university and all it has to offer,” said Katy Allen, the Mortar Board Top Ten Freshmen coordinator. “It makes me so proud to be an Oklahoma State student to see such intelligent and involved young men and women.”
The 20 students will be formally recognized during a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 5,
in the Browsing Room of Edmon Low Library, and again later that day during half time
of the OSU-Kansas State football game.
