OSU College of Arts and Sciences names top 10 seniors

More than 175 scholarships were presented at the OSU College of Arts and Sciences honors and award banquet April 18, where the Top 10 Seniors also were recognized.

Top 10 Seniors are:

•        Andrea Cerar, English and Spanish, Tulsa, Okla.;
•        Sara Fevurly, strategic communications, Lawrence, Kan.;
•        Bridget Harkin, strategic communications, Alva, Okla.;
•        Anna Geary, strategic communications, Edmond, Okla.;
•        Caleb Ketcham, music and performance, Tyler, Texas;
•        Mackenzie McDaniel, strategic communications, Bartlesville, Okla.;
•        Dawson Metcalf, history and political science, Broken Bow, Okla.;
•        Erin Nally, zoology, Broken Arrow, Okla.;
•        Sara Roberts, art history, Weatherford, Okla.; and
•        Rosalina Yorks, zoology and microbiology, El Dorado, Kan.

Special recognitions were given to Bailey Scholars and recipients of the Wentz Research Project Awards, Wentz Leadership Scholarships, Wentz Non-Traditional Scholarships and Niblack Research Scholarships.

The Dan Wesley Award for Outstanding Junior went to Baylee Butler, of Ringling, Okla.She is majoring in psychology, liberal studies and political science.

The college’s student council presented English professor Jeffrey Walker with its outstanding professor award.

“Learning how to do something, learning how to communicate clearly with people and learning how to solve puzzles is far more practical than merely assembling facts so fast that you can dispense with them,” Walker said.

The annual honors and awards banquet is coordinated by the OSU Arts and Sciences Student Council, which serves as the voice for undergraduate students in the college. The college is comprised of 24 departments. To learn more, visit http://cas.okstate.edu.
