OSU Physical Plant initiates project to improve customer service and efficiency

The Oklahoma State University Physical Plant has launched a project designed to emphasize customer service and improve efficiency throughout its operations.
Called the “Next Level,” the project will be supported and guided by experts both on campus and off.
“The Huron Consulting Group, an industry specialist, will help us identify and implement a set of business processes that will focus on improving our operations and organization to better focus on customer needs,” said Rick Krysiak, physical plant director. “At the same time, a leadership team headed by Joe Weaver, vice president for administration and finance at OSU, will provide input and support for physical plant project leaders.”
The physical plant has the responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all buildings, infrastructure, landscaping and utilities on campus.
“Our ultimate goal is to make the physical plant more responsive to the needs of those we serve,” said Krysiak, who notes that the consulting group conducted an initial survey, which was followed by customer and employee surveys. The results of the surveys will be used to assist in identifying areas for improvement.
“A number of individuals on campus may be asked to help in this effort by taking surveys or participating in work groups,” explained Krysiak. “We would appreciate their time in providing honest and constructive input, which is critical to the success of this effort.”
The project leadership team includes Weaver; Mary Bryans, director of budget operations; Kathy Elliot, associate vice president and controller; Darlene Hightower, chief information officer; Krysiak; and Adrian Self, director of facilities. The project leader in the physical plant will be Marla Boles with support from Jeff Sweeden and Brandon Kiso.
