OSU researchers help land $3.1 million collaborative grant

Professors Khaled Gasem from Chemical Engineering, Jeffery L. White from Chemistry, and Clint Aichele from Chemical and Petroleum Engineering have received an award from the Department of Energy to establish a Center for Interfacial Reaction Engineering.

The $3.1 million grant is awarded in collaboration with researchers from the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa, and targets new chemistry, catalysis, and engineering routes for transforming poor fuel-source molecules into desirable energy carriers.

In addition to devising new ways of converting molecules to desirable fuels using catalysts that work at the oil/water interface, the project will reveal how diffusion of different species occurs in the complex fluids that are characteristic of today’s oil and gas reservoirs.”
