Grad student and entrepreneur offers bracelets to raise money for relief efforts

For tornado relief

OSU student Jonathon Button is donating a percentage of the sales of bracelets from his website, Life Out of the Box, to the OK United Way May Tornado Relief Fund. Button, who is working on a master’s degree in entrepreneurship, moved to Nicaragua a year ago to create his business, which sells products that help fund school supplies for children in need.

“Since the horrible recent events in Oklahoma, we wanted to try to help even though we are thousands of miles away,” said Button. “We created a special line of handmade bracelets by local artisans here in Central America in colors that represent Oklahoma and the people that live there. Orange for Oklahoma State, Crimson and White for University of Oklahoma and Red and White for Seven Plaza Towers Elementary School.”

The bracelets range from $15 to $30 and for every bracelet sold Button will donate $5-$10 to the OK Strong Tornado Relief Fund. One of his supporters offered to match the first $100 dollars of donations making ever bracelet donating 66% of the funds. To see all of the bracelets, go to his online store at  www.lootb.com.

“We wish more than anything we could be there right now, but because we are currently so far away, we are trying to make a difference in any way we can,” said Button.
