The Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble will present its final concert of the spring semester Thursday, April 11, in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts at 8 pm.

This concert is a preview of the music the ensemble will perform at the Japan Band Clinic in May, when it will appear, by juried invitation, as the featured international band in Hamamatsu City. Dr. Joseph Missal is conductor for the group.

Repertoire for the concert will include "Festive Overture, Opus 96" by Dmitri Shostakovich, "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach, "The Gum-Suckers March" by Percy Grainger, and "Concerto for Soprano Saxophone" by John Mackey, featuring Dr. Jeff Loeffert as saxophone soloist.

The concert will continue with "Passage" by Scott Lindroth, "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" by Richard Wagner, "Arrival Platform Humlet" by Percy Grainger, and the finale from Steven Bryant's "Concerto for Wind Ensemble." The group will also premier "Peace and Light Rising" by Oklahoma City University composer Edward Knight. Douglas Henderson and Benjamin Lorenzo will serve as guest conductors.

Admission to the concert is $8 adults/$6 for students and senior citizens. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music.  For more information, phone (405) 744-6133 (ext. 1 for events).
