Public reception to feature OSU seniors
The Gardiner Art Gallery is offering “V15ION: Senior Graphic Design Portfolio Exhibition,” through April 5, featuring the work of 15 students who will receive their bachelor of fine arts degrees in graphic design from the OSU Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History in May.
Students whose works are showcased in this exhibition include: Amy Bieberdorf, Jason Camarse, Lauren Coleman, Brittany Crow, Leah Francis, Will Harwood, Amber Hawkins, Liz Heath, Maggie Maltsberger, Kacey Roach, Dylan Rooks, Adrienne Samuel, Valerie Schell, Mickey Smith, and Kinsey Vinson.
Work on view cover three areas of study – Illustration, Digital Design, and Print Design. This exhibition represents the communication of each student’s artistic proficiency, achieved after several years of experimentation, research, and critical thinking.
The Gardiner Art Gallery will host a free public reception honoring the student artists on Saturday, March 30, from 2 p.m. through 4 p.m.
As a form of mass communication, graphic design has the power to change our mainstream culture and be absorbed into our collective consciousness. Students in this exhibition produce visual communication through their designs, which convey specific messages. Through years of study, they learn how to pursue creative solutions to problems through a process of uncovering and discovering. Work in this exhibition demonstrates our graduating students’ ability to balance form with function, aesthetics with style, and logic with intuition. Visitors will be impressed by numerous examples of graphic designs that are imaginative, inspiring, innovative, smart and memorable.
The Gardiner Art Gallery is fully accessible and located on the first floor of the Bartlett Center for the Visual Arts. Gallery hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The gallery is closed on Sundays and University holidays.
