Service CORD awarded to graduates
Thursday, May 2, 2013
Oklahoma State University Service-Learning Volunteer Center will award 27 students with an Honor CORD to be worn at graduation this weekend .
Joyce Montgomery, OSU Service-Learning Volunteer Center Coordinator, said the 2013 graduates have been dedicated to serving the community and making a difference through their service.
“The ORANGE CORD represents the highest honor a student at OSU can receive from the University for exemplary service to the community," Montgomery said. "The honorary CORD indicates excellence in the areas of volunteer management, educational awareness, client services and fundraising efforts. Students receiving the CORD are setting benchmarks for the culture of service at OSU.”
This CORD is awarded to undergraduate students who have served 400 hours of community service and to graduate students who have served at least 300 hours of community service throughout their time at OSU.
Megan Phillips, a 2013 CORD recipient said, " I was given so many opportunities to serve while attending OSU, and I took almost every one of them. Service is very important to me, and I hope to encourage others to pursue service throughout their lives, even after they graduate."
