Annual concert to feature seasonal standards on Friday
The Stillwater Community Band will present its annual Christmas concert on Friday,
Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Winfrey Houston Theater in the Stillwater Community Center,315
W. 8th Ave. The concert is free and fun for the entire family.
The band will open with the popular “Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson which
includes the holiday standards “Joy to the World,” “Deck the Halls,” and “Hark the
Herald Angels Sing” among others. Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” will have extra
meaning now that residents have already experienced several days of snow. The band
will celebrate the new year ahead with a modern Mannheim Steamroller classic, “Auld
Lang Syne.” The concert will feature several more holiday standards as well as the
traditional audience sing-along and close, as always, with another Leroy Anderson favorite,
“Sleigh Ride.”
The Stillwater Community Band is under the direction of Mr. Wayne Bovenschen. For
more information, please visit the community band website at stillwatercommunityband.org.
The annual Stillwater Community Center Mixer will be held in the lobby area following
the concert. All donations accepted will be forwarded to the Community Center for
all their support of the Stillwater Community Bands through the years.
