2014 Panhellenic Recruitment begins

Recruitment 2014 is underway this week at Oklahoma State University, where the entire Panhellenic community is welcoming 870 women to Stillwater.

"The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs and Panhellenic Council are so excited for Recruitment 2014!" said Ann Reightler, coordinator of fraternity & sorority affairs. "We are looking forward to meeting the women interested in joining a Panhellenic chapter at OSU and hope they will have a wonderful recruitment week. The Panhellenic chapters have been diligently preparing to ensure the potential new members have a positive and rewarding experience."

A timeline of the week's events is below:

·      August 5: Move-in/check-in and Orientation

·      August 6 & 7: First Event Round; Open House Round

·      August 8: Second Event Round, House Tour/Philanthropy Round

·      August 9: Third Event Round; Skit Round

·      August 10: Fourth Event Round, Preference

·      August 11: Bid Day

The most exciting part of the recruitment process is Bid Day, when one sorority will extend a formal invitation of membership. Parents/guardians will receive an email indicating the chapter that has extended a bid to their student and should use that information to proceed directly to the chapter house.

If parents/guardians will not have access to email, then they can meet at 11 a.m. at Murray Hall, located on the corner of Monroe Street and University Avenue, to find out which sorority their student has received a bid from.

Students will transition to their chapter houses between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend bid day, not only for the fun activities, but also to attend meetings hosted by the chapters explaining the membership and financial obligations, as well as ways to get involved. These events begin at the chapter houses around noon. Only light refreshments will be provided and no pets, other than service animals, are allowed at Bid Day.

Parking permits are available to purchase now at parking.okstate.edu. It is recommended that students go online to purchase their permits before arriving on campus.

On bid day, parents can park at the chapter house in which their student has been extended a bid. More information about bid day parking will be sent to parents/guardians via email during the evening of August 10. Early arrival is recommended due to heavy traffic and limited parking.
