Local financial planner featured in emeriti series

Louise Schroeder

Financial planner Louise Schroeder will present “Managing Individual and Employer Retirement Accounts after Retirement”  on Wednesday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Stillwater Public Library. The class is part of the OSU Emeriti Association’s monthly retirement series.

“As retirees’ longevity has increased over the years, effective management of their retirement assets will be more crucial than ever before if retirees hope to maintain a certain lifestyle,” said Zane Quible, OSU Emeriti Association member. “It is unwise to assume that we can put the management of these accounts on ‘auto pilot’ and expect that everything will always turn out well.”

Throughout the program, Schroeder will give participants tips for effectively managing their various retirement accounts during their golden years.

Schroeder, a certified financial planner and a part of the Garrett Planning Network, has been in private practice since leaving OSU in 1998, where she served as the assistant director of planned giving for the OSU Foundation.

Schroeder is particularly interested in serving retirees and has worked with many organizations throughout the area to make retirement more beneficial.  She served on Stillwater’s Certified Retirement Community committee, which promotes Stillwater as an attractive retirement community and assesses the needs of Stillwater retirees and works with Oklahoma Independent Living Resources, which focuses on educating the public and professionals about aging in place at home.  Schroeder also completed the Oklahoma Aging Advocacy Leadership Academy, sponsored by the Area Agencies on Aging and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Aging Division.

“Making the Most of Retirement” is free and open to all retirees.  It meets the third Wednesday of each month.  The program will take a summer break during July and August, and then resume monthly meetings beginning in Sept.
