The American Chamber Players to offer class and concert
Violinist Miles Hoffman, a regular on NPR’s Morning Edition, brings his American Chamber Players (ACP) organization to Oklahoma State University for a class on Monday, March 10, and performance on Tuesday, March 11, as part of the College of Arts and Sciences Humanities Lecture Series.
There will be a free master class Monday night at 7:30 p.m. featuring members of ACP who will hear three OSU-affiliated students play and then work with them on the pieces they perform. The class, in the concert hall of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts, is open to the public.
The ACP will perform a concert of chamber music from the 19th and 20th centuries on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $8 (students and seniors are $6) and are available at the door.
Hoffman formed the ACP in 1985 to worldwide acclaim. His musical commentary has been heard regularly on NPR – first on the weekly program Performance Today from 1989-2002 – and currently on Morning Edition. Hoffman is the author of “The NPR Classical Music Companion: Terms and Concepts from A to Z,” now in its 10th printing from the Houghton Mifflin Company.
Joining Hoffman in the ACP are cellist Stephen Balderston, clarinetist Loren Kitt, violinist Joanna Maurer, flutist Sara Stern, and pianist Anna Stoytcheva.
