Season finale choral concert “In Paradisum” is April 24

The OSU Choral Department will present its final concert of the season, titled “In Paradisum,” on Thursday, April 24, at 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater.

The title reflects the featured Durufle Requiem, which will be sung by the OSU Concert Chorale joined by dancers and guest organist Janet Plummel from Fort Worth, Texas. The program will start with a grand processional by French organist Charles Vierne, and include “Cloudburst” a musical portrayal of a rainstorm, as well as “Stars,” performed with glasses and voices.

Pianist Heather Lanners, saxophonist Jeffrey Loeffert, and soprano Anne-Marie Condacse will also be featured during the 70-minute program.

"This very well may be one of the most eclectic programs I have ever conducted," said  Z. Randall Stroope, conductor of the concert and director of choral and vocal studies at OSU.

Admission to the program is $8 for adults/$6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets and are available in 132 Seretean Center during business hours, and starting one hour before the performance, at the door. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music.
