The OSU Philosophy Department and Friends of the Forms will present a Public Dialogue: "Critical Conversations: Race, Gender, and the Normative Gaze” on March 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Engineering South room 317.

Featured speakers are Lawrence Ware, lecturer, OSU Philosophy Department, and Dr. Elon Dancy, associate professor, OU African American Studies Program.

Ware is a frequent contributor to the publication The Democratic Left and co-editor of the forthcoming progressive publication RS: The Religious Left. He has also been a commentator on race for the Huffington Post Live and NPR’s Talk of the Nation. He has taught and lectured across the country on issues ranging from race to economic policy. 

Dancy is an associate professor  at The University of Oklahoma in Norman, who holds joint appointments in African & African American Studies, Women & Gender Studies, and the Center for Social Justice. He joined the OU faculty following faculty appointments at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Prior to becoming a professor, Dancy held various administrative posts in both university advancement and health care settings.
