Fanfare of Lights to illuminate OSU campus

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Everyone is invited to help kick off the holiday season on the Oklahoma State University campus with live performances, free refreshments and family-friendly activities at the Fanfare of Lights on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. near the Edmon Low Library fountain.

Watch the campus turn bright with holiday lights and enjoy traditional Christmas music performed by choirs from Will Rogers Elementary, Stillwater Junior High School and Stillwater Middle School as well as the OSU Chamber Choir and OSU Trumpet Choir. Children will be treated to free glow necklaces and a visit from a special guest, Elsa, from Disney’s “Frozen.”

“Fanfare of Lights is a great way to bring the community together to usher in the holidays,” said Brandon Mitts, coordinator of the Allied Arts and Special Events office. “We are excited to be partnering with a variety of campus and community groups to make this night truly special for everyone.”

Following the performances, OSU Student Government Association representative Chris Stockton will pay tribute to Remember the 4, and OSU’s First Cowgirl, Ann Hargis, will begin the countdown to light the campus at 8 p.m. The orange and white holiday lights will signal the arrival of a surprise visitor who will help close the event in the true spirit of the holiday.

In addition to its annual performing arts series, the OSU Allied Arts and Special Events office is responsible for the coordination and production of many popular campus events such as the Fanfare of Lights, the Miss OSU Pageant and a variety of high caliber professional speakers and performers.
