Golliver to offer “The Faces of Love” recital

Music faculty member April Golliver in concert Tuesday, Aug. 26.
April Golliver, mezzo-soprano and associate professor of voice at OSU, will offer “The Faces of Love” in a free recital set for Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall.

Joined by Pi-Ju Chiang on piano and Mary Fukushima on the flute, “The Faces of Love” will feature Jake Heggie’s “The Deepest Desire: Four Meditations on Love,” which is based on the writings of Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ.  The vocal line recounts Prejean’s spiritual journey, including the call, her struggle and ultimate acceptance. The piano and flute express the mystery of her call and the emotional journey to acceptance. All English repertoire.

Golliver is the recipient of the 2013 Friends of Music Distinguished Music Professor Award and the 2008 Wise-Diggs-Berry Award for Teaching Excellence at Oklahoma State University.

Golliver has performed with Tulsa Opera, Mobile Opera, Wichita Grand Opera, Canterbury Choral Society, Tulsa Signature Symphony, Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, and Bartlesville Choral Society.  She has served several seasons as a principal artist with LOOK Musical Theater.
