Greek Discovery Day date set at OSU

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

Annual event provides opportunities for students to learn about Greek life

On March 29, students from across the country will have the opportunity to visit Oklahoma State University and participate in Greek Discovery Day 2014 to learn about the Greek community and recruitment processes.

Greek Discovery Day 2014 will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  High school juniors and seniors, current non-Greek OSU students and parents are invited to attend.

Greek Discovery Day is an all-day event that provides students and parents with an overview of the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Panhellenic Council. It also gives students an opportunity to meet with current chapter members.

Emily Ramseyer, Panhellenic vice president, and Michael Barr, IFC external vice president, worked with the four Greek councils to plan Greek Discovery Day.

“We are very excited about Greek Discovery Day and the opportunity we have to show students the different aspects of Greek life,” Ramseyer said.

Greek Discovery Day activities include an informal browse session, comments from university administration, educational sessions on the different recruitment processes, fraternity chapter house tours, sorority mock recruitment and optional evening activities.

“Being Greek has provided me with so many amazing opportunities and this event is a way for interested students to see what it is all about,” Barr said.

Registration is $50 per student.  Students can register online at gogreek.okstate.edu.  The online registration deadline is noon on March 14. Any registrations received after March 14 will not include a Greek Discovery Day T-shirt. Onsite registration will be available for cash or check payments only.  Extra shirts will also be available during onsite registration for $10.
