First seminar to focus on the feral cat challenge

Consider a role in Operation Catnip.

Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences will host a Veterinary Voices seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. in McElroy Hall to share information on how the community can help cut down the population of feral cats through Operation Catnip.

One feral cat can produce as many as 25 unwanted kittens in its lifetime.  Multiply that by the hundreds of free-roaming cats in the Stillwater area and you have an over population of cats.

Dr. Lesa Staubus and founding veterinary students Megan Dayton and Jackie Paritte will talk about their involvement with Operation Catnip.  The organization offers a trap-neuter-return service to spay/neuter feral cats.  Run completely by volunteers, Operation Catnip will host several spay/neuter clinics at OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital throughout the year with the first one being held on Sunday, Sept. 14.  Come and learn about the many ways you can participate in Operation Catnip whether it’s setting a trap, processing paperwork or assisting with surgery.

All Veterinary Voices seminars are open to the public at no charge.  McElroy Hall is located at the corner of McFarland and West Farm Road on the OSU Stillwater campus.  Complimentary parking and light refreshments will be available.
