OSU chapter honored at national convention

The Phi Mu chapter at Oklahoma State University received the second-highest honor given in the organization, the Rose and White Award, at the 53rd National Convention in Boca Raton, Fla. The award is presented to the chapter that has shown the greatest improvement in achieving the ideals of Phi Mu during the past two years. 

Academics, membership, chapter and new member programming, philanthropy involvement, risk management and public relations are all considered when selecting the recipient of the award. Every chapter of Phi Mu is considered for the award based on a yearly "Commitment to Excellence" form submitted in March.   

Chapter president Emily Doyel and chapter adviser Shannon Custard represented the local (Epsilon Nu) chapter at the convention. "It was a huge honor for us to receive this award and the recognition of our members' efforts to make this change happen," Doyel said. "I think it also reflects highly on our wonderful Panhellenic system that fosters this type of growth."  

Founded in 1852, Phi Mu is a women's organization which provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu promotes vibrant living, encouraging members to achieve their personal best. The Phi Mu National Convention is held every two years at various locations around the United States. The 2016 convention is scheduled for Chicago, Ill.
