OSU family: pledge not to text and drive
Help spread the work that no text is worth a life. Cell phone carriers and advocates are teaming up on Friday, Sept. 19, for a nationwide day of action to encourage all drivers to make a personal commitment not to text and drive.
Share your reason for not texting and driving during the week of Sept. 16, and take the pledge with #ItCanWait or visit ItCanWait.com. Then, on the day of action, tweet and update your Facebook status by letting your followers and friends know “Today is #ItCanWait Drive 4 Pledges Day! OSU encourages you to take the pledge not to text and drive at www.ItCanWait.com.”
Instagram users can take the pledge by writing #ItCanWait on their hand, taking a photo, and then uploading it to Instagram with #ItCanWait. Tell your friends and followers why you’ve taken the pledge to not text and drive again. Be sure to follow #ItCanWait on Instagram and support others who have taken the pledge.
Stay true to your pledge with these tips from ItCanWait.com:
· Place an “It Can Wait” hand sticker on your car. This will act as a reminder to others on the road and will remind you to be a good example.
· Assign a “designated texter” when you’re on the road with friends and family.
· Call, don’t text. Use a Bluetooth feature in your car to make the call safely.
· Out of sight, out of mind. Put your phone on silent or in a place where you can’t reach it.
· Speak up if you see a friend or family member texting and driving. Tell them it’s not OK and ask them to stop.
