OSU Interfraternity Council  grows homecoming endowment

$11,000 expected annually for endowment over next 10 years

The Oklahoma State University Interfraternity Council is donating the new money from a dues increase to the OSU Alumni Association’s Homecoming Endowment. The council passed the resolution by a two-thirds vote on Aug. 21, raising IFC dues from $15 to $20 per member, effective immediately.

The increase will allow IFC to contribute more than $11,000 annually to the homecoming endowment for the next 10 years. The group also hopes its move will encourage more OSU donations.

“I applaud IFC and its members for taking this major step to support one of OSU’s greatest traditions,” said Chris Batchelder, president of the OSU Alumni Association. “’America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration’ is a point of pride for our students and alumni, and we want to ensure it remains so for many more generations.”

Batchelder added he was hopeful the IFC action would inspire students and alumni to support the endowment.

The homecoming endowment recently topped $1 million, allowing the first interest payments to be made to OSU living groups and campus organizations to support their homecoming efforts. The endowment, which will also support OSU Alumni Association student programs and awards, will be fully funded at $3 million.

Interfraternity Council President Tim Krenz called the move a step in the right direction. “This is great for our fraternity community and especially great for OSU’s homecoming celebration. Finally, we are moving toward a less expensive homecoming experience for Greek students.”

IFC governs a total of 23 nationally recognized men’s organizations. Promoting academic achievement, leadership opportunities, campus activities, fellowship and community service these men represent the Oklahoma State campus and the Stillwater community.
