OSU named among Great Value Colleges

OSU is 10th in net price for public universities. The website also points to the university’s classification by the Carnegie Foundation as a school with high research activity as well as a commitment to fitness that’s exemplified by the slogan “America’s Healthiest Campus.” The website also notes “bookworms won’t be disappointed; the nearly 90 academic programs cover every conceivable interest from aerospace to veterinary studies.”

The Great Value College rankings are based on eight indicators as well as a college’s Forbes ranking and a net price factor that must be under $22,000 for a typical year of college. The website put the net price (cost minus financial aid) for attending OSU at $14,415 and Forbes ranked it 369 out of the 650 colleges on its list for 2014. Other specific indicators the website uses to determine rankings, include: six-year graduation rate, freshmen retention rate, student-to-faculty ratio, percentage of classes taught by teaching assistants, average entrance ACT score, number of campus organizations, and number of academic programs.
