Mass Transit magazine recently named Oklahoma State University’s Steve Spradling as
one of the top 40 transit leaders under 40 in the United States for his achievements
in transit innovation.
Spradling, director of the OSU Department of Parking and Transportation, received
the 2013 Oklahoma Transit Professional of the Year award from the Oklahoma Transit
Association on Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Oklahoma City.
“Transit directors across the state are acutely aware of the progress at OSU Transit,”
said OTA President Jeannie McMillin. “From the university’s world class Multi-Modal
center, to the conversion of its fleet to Oklahoma-born CNG fuel, Steve has placed
OSU Transit on the map. Whenever a system as visible as OSU Transit makes such strides,
it is a boost for all Oklahoma public transit. Like the rest of Oklahoma, we look
to our two comprehensive universities for leadership.”
Spradling was selected by a panel of independent media-related judges including Kirk
Martin of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and editor of the Community Developer,
Shauna Runyon of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and Hayley Leatherwood of
Oklahoma Living magazine.
The OTA is a nonprofit organization representing all public transit – urban, rural
and tribal transit systems – in Oklahoma. In January, Spradling was elected to his
fourth consecutive term on the OTA Board of Directors.
