OSU to participate in national service days

The Service-Learning Volunteer Center (SLVC) at Oklahoma State University will be working with the university to recognize and promote national service days on the OSU campus throughout the school year. The scheduled dates are recognized because they encourage volunteerism in local communities. Today, Sept. 11, marks the first event as the National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Other events include

·      30th Anniversary of the SLVC, on Friday, Oct. 17, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.

·      Make a Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 25.

·      Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11.

·      Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 19.

·      National Volunteer Week, April 12-18.

·      Global Youth Service Day, Friday, April 17.

The Service-Learning Volunteer Center provides a pathway for students to volunteer locally, regionally, nationally and globally while enriching academic courses and connecting and building partnerships for success. “We also host functions on and off campus to build collaborations and common interest areas for student,” said Joyce Montgomery, SLVC coordinator.
