Thursday, April 17, 2014

Corey White opens the Arts Fest in downtown Stillwater Friday.

OSU student from Bixby is singer-songwriter

The 37th Annual Stillwater Arts Festival will kick off with free live music downtown Friday, April 18 beginning at 5 p.m. Headlining is country act Corey Kent White, who will take stage at 7p.m.

White, an singer-songwriter from Bixby, is currently a student at Oklahoma State University. He started his career at the Tulsa State Fair ten years ago and that lead to gigs touring with top acts like the Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Shooter Jennings, and the Big and Rich. White has recently released his first EP called Making Noise.

Stephanie Gudgel, festival entertainment coordinator, said she first heard White perform on the radio and saw him live during the OSU Homecoming Walk-Around.  "I was impressed. We also received a number of requests to feature Corey at this year’s arts festival. We hope music goers will stay after the concert and enjoy a block party with a live DJ, food vendors and a beverage garden.”

Free live entertainment continues on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with Kalyn Robinson, Dave and Hannah Bradley (father/daughter), James Price Band, Jean Irish Dancers, Stillwater Honor Choir, and Taylor Thompson.

This year's festival is sponsored by Visit Stillwater, Oklahoma Arts Council, Downtown Stillwater, Stillwater Radio, Stillwater News Press, and the Arts and Humanities Council of Stillwater.
