Schubert's "Unifinished Symphony" is centerpiece
The Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra will present Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony” and two concertos on Tuesday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall.
Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony” in B Minor is considered among the masterworks of the Austrian composer’s final years. Though he died at the age of 31, he was a prolific composer who had written 600 songs, with several symphonies, operas and a large body of chamber music.
Two co-winners of this year’s OSU Concerto Competition will perform during the concert. Cleon Chai will present Giuseppe Tartini’s Concerto for Trumpet, and Bruce Haiduk will perform Ferdinand David’s Trombone Concerto No. 4.
The symphony is under the direction of Dr. Eric Garcia, visiting director of orchestral studies and assistant professor of conducting.
Tickets are $8 for general admission and $6 for students and senior citizens, and are available in 132 Seretean Center during business hours The box office will also open one hour before the performance. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music. For more information, phone (405) 744-8998.
