OSU/A&M Regents move forward with several construction projects on the Stillwater, Oklahoma City campuses

Friday, December 5, 2014

The Board of Regents for Oklahoma State University/A&M Colleges selected architects and construction managers for two facilities on the OSU-Stillwater and OSU-Oklahoma City campuses during its meeting today at OSU-Tulsa.

The regents selected JE Dunn of Oklahoma City to assist in the design and construction of a parking garage on the south side of the Stillwater campus. The South Parking Garage will be located adjacent to the proposed new Performing Arts Center that will be located on the southwest corner of University Avenue and Hester Street. The project is estimated to cost between $11-$12 million

Also on the Stillwater campus, the board approved the selection process for an architect and construction manager to assist in the design and construction of a new undergraduate laboratory facility for the College of Engineering Architecture and Technology. This “theory-to-practice lab” will give students opportunities to learn basic engineering principals and provide efficient, flexible laboratories for multidisciplinary learning for hands-on experiences. The cross-disciplinary facility is expected to cost between $25-$30 million and will be located west of the Donald W. Reynolds School of Architecture Building on the northeast corner of Hester Street and Athletic Avenue.

In other action, regents selected Lippert Bros., Inc. of Oklahoma City to assist in the construction of a new classroom building for Oklahoma County Cooperative Extension in Oklahoma City. The current facility on the OSU-OKC campus is closing and a partial replacement is being built by Oklahoma County on North 63rd Street in Oklahoma City. Although the replacement building will include office and support space, the OSU facility, which will be build adjacent to the office space, will house the extension service’s many outreach programs.  The $1.25-$1.75 million building will include classroom space, a demonstration kitchen, storage and additional support space.

The board also selected Dewberry of Tulsa as the architect and approved the selection process to begin to choose a construction manager for a new educational facility for the Allied Health programs at OSU-OKC. The new Health Services building will house nursing, cardiovascular technology and dietetics technology programs. Through a partnership with local healthcare providers, the building will also house a health clinic to serve the Oklahoma City campus and surrounding communities. The facility is estimated to cost between $12-$13.5 million.
