FAQ on Parking Lot Closures on Thursday, September 25, 2014
1. If I am a commuter student, where will I park when the lot I normally park in closes?
A. You may park in overflow lots 74, 81A and after 2:30pm in the Monroe Street Garage.
2. If I am a staff or faculty where will I park when the lot I normally park in closes?
A. You may park in overflow lots 74, 81A, staff parking lots 18, 19, 19A, 32, 37, 38, 40, 41B and the Monroe Street Garage and other parking lots not identified as Posse (see Game Day Parking Map)
3. Will anyone other than faculty and staff be allowed to park in the Monroe Street Garage? Will students who have Garage parking permits be allowed to park there and will it be monitored?
A. Any vehicle with a faculty or staff permit will be allowed to park in the Monroe Street Garage on Thursday, September 25, as well as any vehicle displaying a valid Monroe Street Garage permit. Monroe Garage will remain open for all faculty/staff all day and open to any students after 2:30pm for night classes.
If parking in Monroe Street Garage at the pay-by-space parking you must pay the meter.
4. How is the University planning on addressing academic issues associated with classes and test that day for students who are unable to make it to class because of the parking situation?
A. There will parking available for students to attend class.
5. Will there be any additional bus routes?
A. We do not plan to run any additional bus routes but will run regularly scheduled service as well as game day operations. On-campus routes will be reduced at 5:00 PM. The buses will only deviate from normal routes because of road closures.
6. Will Lot 12 at 4th Ave and Hester be open to students, or will it be a United Way lot?
A. Lot 12 on the corner of 4th Ave and Hester will be open to students with a Green Zone Commuter permit as usual. The remainder will be used for United Way fund raising beginning at 3pm.
7. How and why did game day parking receive precedence over academic parking?
A. The plan is to provide parking for both academic and game day parking at the same time.
8. What efforts is the University going to make to notify students that they will not be able to park in commuter lots on game day?
A. Lot 6, 6B and 26 are the only commuter lots that will be completely closed for game day. The others will be closed after the majority of classes are completed. More faculty and staff spaces will be closed for the entire day than student spaces.
9. Why were students not notified of the game day parking situation when they purchased their parking permits?
A. Everyone that purchased a parking permit was notified on their temporary parking permit.
