Resolution recognizes OSU Councils' centennial and achievements

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

A proclamation of recognition was presented to Oklahoma State University’s Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs at the 2014 Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA) annual meeting this month in Nashville, Tenn.

The document formally recognized both the Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council celebrating their centennials in the year 2015.  The AFA also used it as a resolution to honor both councils for their consistent achievements in programming excellence at numerous national and regional conferences and their continued dedication and excellence to the fraternal movement.

Panhellenic Council is the governing body of the 13 National Panhellenic Conference sororities on the Oklahoma State University campus while Interfraternity Council is its male counterpart governing 23 nationally recognized men’s organizations.

Fraternity & Sorority Affairs is highly anticipating celebrating both councils’ milestones in the upcoming year. One of the highlights will take place at the 2015 Annual Greek Awards banquet, where the past 100 Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council presidents will collectively be inducted into the OSU Greek Hall of Fame.

“Celebrating 100 years is a monumental milestone for the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils,” said Ann Reightler, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs coordinator. “We are extremely excited to honor the past 100 Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council presidents in the spring.”

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs oversees four councils, including the Panhellenic, Interfraternity, National Pan-Hellenic and Multicultural Greek Council.  The OSU Greek community is composed of more than 3,000 students representing 51 diverse men’s and women’s fraternal organizations.
