Special Olympics Summer Games underway
You can follow coverage of the Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes as they compete in the summer games at OSU by going to http://www.sook.org/ and clicking the links in the Twitter section.
The opening ceremonies took place last night in Gallagher-Iba Arena and today athletes, from across the state, began competing in nine sports: Athletics (Track and Field), Bocce, Bowling, Golf, Horseshoes, Powerlifting, Unified 3-on-3 Basketball, and Unified Softball. Other events include Motor Activities and Stars of the Future.
Staff and hundreds of volunteers (see committee members below) are on hand to make sure athletes have three full days of competition, Olympic-style ceremonies, Olympic Village, food, housing and many fun activities.
