Famed Comedy Troupe to perform in Stillwater

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to laugh more in 2015, Chicago’s legendary sketch and improv troupe, The Second City, will give you the perfect start on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 8 p.m. in the OSU Seretean Center Concert Hall.  “The Second City Hits Home,” is a must-see night of comedy featuring hilarious sketches, songs and improvisation about Stillwater as well as material from the famed Second City archives, performed by some of Chicago’s brightest comedy stars. 

 
The Second City returns with mix of classic scenes and new, local material.

“Expect a refreshing opportunity to sit back and laugh at the world around us,” said Brandon Mitts, Allied Arts & Special Events manager. “I look forward to seeing what The Second City drums up about Stillwater using its hilarious improvisational style.”

In its 54th year of cutting edge satiric revues, The Second City continues to do what it does best with some of the finest performers in comedy touring the globe.  Known for producing a list of alums who went onto comic stardom, including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner and Bill Murray, The Second City will delve into Stillwater's history, recent headlines and hot-button issues to offer laughs with a generous portion of classic Chicago-style sketch and improv.

Tickets for The Second City are $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. They can be purchased online at alliedarts.okstate.edu or by phone at (405) 744-2612. The Second City performance is the fourth performance in the 2014-2015 OSU Allied Arts series, which includes six annual performances designed to enrich the lives of students and area residents.
