Make your presence on campus solid as a brick
Friday, April 17, 2015
Oklahoma State University alumni can make their presence on campus permanent by taking advantage of the opportunity to brick pave.
Both the OSU Alumni Association and the OSU Foundation offer the service and either will engrave a brick in your name to ensure you’re always part of the campus. The bricks laid near the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center date back to the first class of 1896.
“Every brick placed represents individuals who went before and paved the way for alumni who have followed in their footsteps,” according to the OSU Alumni Association website.
The cost of the bricks depend on placement as well as the buyer’s member status in the OSU Alumni Association. New graduates pay $100 for a brick, members of the alumni association pay $200 and nonmembers pay $250, plus the location fee.
All proceeds from the Alumni Association Brick Paver program are used to support alumni and student programs and services.
Bricks may be purchased at any time of the year but to ensure placement by important dates such as homecoming or commencement, orders must be placed by a certain date. More details about ordering dates can be found on the OSU Alumni Association website, orangeconnection.org.
“Purchasing a brick paver is a great way to leave your mark on OSUs campus,” said Chase Carter, communications director for the alumni association. “We have had brick pavers etched for all kinds of special moments, many recognize a graduate’s class year and major, but there are also very unique ones like a marriage proposal or the recognition of the birth of a future Cowboy."
The OSU Alumni Association will place bricks based on the decade you graduated or in the faculty/staff or family/friends section around the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.
The OSU Foundation sells brick pavers as a part of a campaign to beautify the campus. Engraved bricks are placed in the Formal Gardens west of the Student Union as a reminder to future generations of your path at OSU and commitment to beautify the campus.
Bricks can be purchased for three distinguished areas for various prices. The first is the friend’s area for $50, the second is the associate’s area for $75 and the third is the inner circle area that can be purchased for $100. For more details about ordering, go to the foundation’s website, at OSUgiving.com, or the Facilities Management website at fm.okstate.edu. You may also call Facilities Management at 405-744-7147 or the OSU Student Government Association at 405-744-6500.
No matter where the brick is purchased, brick paving is a way to make sure that every Cowboy remains an integral part of OSUs family and history.
