Tuesday, March 24, 2015
An OSU student continued his journey to music stardom on NBC's The Voice.
Corey Kent White, a junior from Bixby, advanced to the Live Playoffs with a Knockout Round victory Tuesday night. White is being mentored by fellow Oklahoman Blake Shelton as part of "Team Blake."
White first wowed the audience in the blind auditions, performing "Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band. This performance led to both Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams vying for the singer/songwriter to be a part of his team.
White went on to pick Blake Shelton as his mentor, saying "there's just something about those boys from Oklahoma!"
"I've seen how he's invested in the Swon Brother's career and can't help but to want that kind of investment from him in my career," White said.
He continued his success in the Battle Rounds by performing "I Want Crazy" by Hunter Hayes, convincing Shelton to choose him over fellow artist Jacob Rummell.
Follow along as White continues his journey to stardom on The Voice, airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on NBC.
