Thursday, May 14, 2015

Oklahoma State University President V. Burns Hargis has been named to the Board of Managers of the College Football Playoff.

The 11-person group manages the administrative operations of the playoff and governs its business, property and affairs, including budgets, policies and operating guidelines.

“It is an honor to represent the Big 12 Conference in this important role,” said Hargis. “The College Football Playoff is an exciting and welcomed addition to intercollegiate athletics. The Big 12 appreciates the work of Bill Hancock and his entire College Football Playoff team.”

Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff, said, “We are delighted to welcome President Hargis to the group. He has the personality, experience and savvy to be a terrific member.”

The members of the College Football Playoff Board of Managers are the 10 Football Bowl Subdivision conferences (American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern and Sun Belt) and the University of Notre Dame.

Hargis became the 18th President of Oklahoma State on March 10, 2008, after a successful legal and banking career. He is the second OSU graduate to serve as president, overseeing one of the nation’s most comprehensive land-grant university systems with more than 36,000 students, nearly 8,000 employees and campuses located in Stillwater, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Okmulgee.
