OSU Alumni Chapters Supporting Benefit Races

Tuesday, March 17, 2015

Four chapters of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association are hosting or participating in benefit races.

“Oklahoma State University is proud to be America’s healthiest campus, and OSU alumni are bringing that message to their own communities with events like races and fun runs,” said Pam Davis, senior director of engagement at the OSU Alumni Association. “These events are not only a great way to stay healthy, but also a fun way to connect with Cowboys in your area.”

The first race is the Purcell 5K Fun Run being held on Saturday, March 28 by the Cleveland County OSU Alumni Chapter. The run will take place at Purcell City Lake located south of Purcell off I-35. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and the 5k Fun Run begins at 9 a.m. All proceeds from the event will support the chapter's OSU scholarship fund to benefit local high school students in Cleveland and McClain counties planning to attend OSU.

The Thin Blue Line 5K Run and Walk begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Boomer Lake in Stillwater. The race will benefit the Oklahoma Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (OKCOPS), providing support services for families of law enforcement officers killed in the Line of Duty.

The Northwest Arkansas OSU Alumni Chapter is sponsoring a team in the Oklahoma Warrior Dash as their Cowboys for a Cause fundraiser event benefiting St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. All OSU alumni and friends are welcome to participate on Saturday, May 2. The dash will be held at Flying M Ranch located in Inola, Okla.

Finally, the Tulsa OSU Alumni Chapter and the OU Club of Tulsa are hosting the annual Albert G’s BBQ Bedlam 5K/10K/Fun Run sponsored by Williams on Saturday, July 25. The race will begin at 7:30 a.m., and proceeds support both group’s scholarship funds for local students.

The OSU Alumni Association also invites interested individuals to participate in the annual Remember the Ten Memorial 10K/5K/Fun Run and the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Scrub Run. The Remember the Ten is part of Legends Weekend on Saturday, April 18 at 9 a.m. on the OSU-Stillwater campus. The 5K and 10K races are certified by The Road Running Technical Council of USATF, and proceeds from the race support OSU Counseling Services. The 36th annual Osteopathic Scrub Run on Saturday, April 25 takes place at the OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa and will feature a 5K and one-mile fun run. Proceeds from the Scrub Run will support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for childhood cancer research.
