OSU fraternity challenges campus to raise funds for parade victims

Friday, November 13, 2015

The Oklahoma Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has challenged the student body to raise at least $50,000 for the homecoming parade victims.

Brian Rosebrook, chapter president, said that he was shocked after learning about what happened at the parade. He wanted to do something for the survivors and victims’ families, but wasn’t sure what he could do.

After speaking with his executive council, Rosebrook announced at a weekly Interfraternity Council meeting that their chapter would be donating $5,000 to the Stillwater Medical Center Foundation and challenged other campus organizations to follow suit.

“We decided to give the rest of our social and philanthropy budgets for the year,” Rosebrook said. “It would mean so much more to the victims than it would to any of us.”

Dominic Eramo, SigEp Chaplin, said the OSU community has never failed to come together when tragedy strikes.

“We are a family, and I am proud to be a part of such an amazing group of people,” Eramo said.
