OSU gets “best bang for the buck” ranking

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Oklahoma State University is ranked 14th among the top 100 schools in the South where students can get the “best bang for the buck,” based on the net price they pay for their education.

The latest rankings, published in “The Other College Guide” from Washington Monthly magazine, are promoted online as a way to hold public colleges accountable for their quality of teaching and tuition increases as well as determining whether they are educating low-income students along with the more affluent ones.

The guide’s regional Best Bang for the Buck list calculates the net price students pay for their education by factoring in the number of students who actually graduate and whether they go on to earn at least enough to pay off their college loans, according to the online information.

A chart that shows the specific factors used to arrive at the regional rankings, from the student loan default percentages to graduation rates, are available online at washingtonmonthly.com by clicking on its College Guide, going to Best Bang for the Buck and selecting Southern Schools.
