Camp Redlands to host Dash to Dine Obstacle Run
Thursday, March 24, 2016
Scale walls, climb nets, navigate through mud pits and take a plunge down the Slime Slide in the first Dash to Dine Obstacle Run.
This event is open to all OSU students, employees and the Stillwater community, with the minimum age set at 13. The Dash to Dine Obstacle Run will be held at Camp Redlands on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The course consists of 10 obstacles and is approximately 2 miles long. Upon completion of the run, participants will receive a voucher for a meal at one of the many food trucks set up at camp and a Dash to Dine Obstacle Run medal.
Jason Vlastaras, assistant director of fitness at the Department of Wellness, has orchestrated previous obstacle mud runs and is pleased to expand this event to the entire Stillwater community.
“We hope to engage a new set of participants that may not traditionally use our programs or visit our facilities” Vlastaras said. “We plan to create a fun, accessible environment to promote community and help others discover wellness.”
A pre-registration fee is available for $30 for members and $40 for non-members before Friday, March 25 at 5 p.m. Registration will be available up until the day of the event.
Unlike the other events held at Camp Redlands, Dash to Dine is expected to be a fun and different atmosphere. “This is a completely new course with upgraded obstacles that include everything from scaling walls and balance beams, to cargo nets and rope climbs.” Vlastaras says. “The most unique aspect of the race is the food trucks. We are hoping to promote an exciting and fun post event atmosphere.”
