Kamm Lecture in Higher Education Set for Feb. 16

The Oklahoma State University College of Education welcomes world-renowned authority on leadership Dr. Susan R. Komives as the speaker for the 2016 Robert B. Kamm Lecture in Higher Education on Tuesday, February 16. Komives, a University of Maryland professor emeritus, will give a lecture entitled “Rethinking Higher Education Leadership: For the Private and Public Good.”  The 24th edition of the Kamm Lecture begins at 10:30 a.m. in Willard Hall room 010. It also will be streamed live on http://www.OState.tv.  

Komives, a member of the ensemble that created the Social Change Theory in student affairs, is past president of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA); was vice president of two colleges; and is the author/editor of a dozen books including Student Services, Exploring Leadership, Leadership for a Better World, and the Handbook for Student Leadership Development. She is executive editor of the inaugural New Directions for Student Leadership series. Dr. Komives is a recipient of both the ACPA and NASPA outstanding research awards and the ACPA Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Komives’ research interests include student leadership development, college student generation cohorts, and leadership and futures issues in student affairs administration.

The Kamm Lecture is named for Robert B. Kamm, Oklahoma State University President from 1966-1977, who served the university for more than 45 years. Annually, this event serves as a policy-impacting lecture that brings higher education leaders, private and public sector leaders together to examine important issues in higher education.
