Orfeo Trio to perform recital at OSU

Orfeo Trio

The Orfeo Trio will play a chamber music recital featuring works by Beethoven, Brahms and Alyabyev at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Concert Hall of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.

The trio, which is in residence at Wichita State University, includes Dr. Julie Bees, an American pianist, and Russians Evgeny Zvonnikov, violinist, and Leonid Shukaev, cellist, both members of the St. Petersburg String Quartet.

The Orfeo Trio was formed in 2012 in Wichita, where they began their career as the official Piano Trio of the Wichita State University College of Fine Arts, School of Music. The three members are active performers with considerable chamber music experience.

Bees has performed chamber music throughout her career, including performances with the Vermeer Quartet and the St. Petersburg String Quartet, as well as in recitals and with various instrumental ensembles at summer festivals. Cellist Leonid Shukaev is a founding member of the St. Petersburg String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at Wichita State University. Violinist Evgeny Zvonnikov joined the St. Petersburg String Quartet in 2010 and was recently named associate concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
