Gobble Wobble

Oklahoma State University Health Services and the Payne County Live Well Coalition have been awarded the 2016 Community Health Champion award for their tobacco prevention efforts.

OSU was recognized by the Oklahoma Turning Point Council for preventing tobacco use through campus and community programming. In addition to the community award, the program received a promotion award through OTPC communication and social media.

“The community champion award is a huge honor, made possible by the strong partnership between OSU and the Payne County Live Well Coalition. Their effective tobacco initiatives are the result of many people who have devoted their lives to this type of work,” said Becky Taylor, program coordinator for the TSET Healthy Living Program, a tobacco prevention funding source.

The Gobble Wobble, a campus fun run, is the largest event held on campus for tobacco prevention and was recognized as a key reason for the community award. The one-mile walk encourages the OSU and Stillwater community to kick the habit of tobacco use or even quit “cold turkey.” The 2016 Gobble Wobble is set for Friday, Nov. 18.
