His project has reached millions across the world, and now, he wants to share his story with Oklahoma State University and the Stillwater community. Brandon Stanton, the creator of the popular Humans of New York project, is speaking at the Wes Watkins Center at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Humans of New York is a blog featuring portraits and interviews gathered on the streets of New York City. Stanton started the blog in November 2010, and it has become a worldwide sensation since. The blog has more than four million followers on Instagram and more than 16 million likes on Facebook. In 2013, Stanton released the “Humans of New York” book, which spent 29 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

“Speakers Board truly hopes that Brandon Stanton will help provide knowledge about how to look past the surface and truly be intentional with people,” said Ryan Neal, Speakers Board assistant director. “At a time when everyone seems to be divided, we hope that he will be a voice of unity and provide students with a positive message.”

Admission to the event is free. Doors open at 6 p.m., and seating will be limited to the first 1,000 people on a first come, first served basis.

The OSU Speakers Board is a sector of the Student Government Association that works to bring top-notch speakers to the Oklahoma State University campus. SGA allocates funds to clubs and organizations for events that can be enjoyed by the entire student body. It also designs programs to better the OSU campus, community and most importantly, students’ way of life.
