Steve Forbes to speak at Oklahoma State University

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Steve Forbes

American publishing executive Steve Forbes will speak about his book, “How Capitalism Will Save Us,” on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 7-8 p.m. at the Oklahoma State University Student Union Ballroom (room 265). The free event is hosted jointly by the OSU Free Enterprise Society and Young America’s Foundation.

Forbes, a two-time former presidential candidate, serves as editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, which includes the nation’s leading business magazine, Forbes, with a  circulation of more than 900,000. Combined with its Asia editions, it reaches a worldwide audience of more than six million readers.

In his book “How Capitalism Will Save Us: Why Free People and Free Markets are the Best Answer in Today’s Economy,” Forbes maintains that, despite the recession, capitalism offers individuals the freedom and energy to solve problems and meet the needs and desires of others, giving more people the chance for a better life.

In 1996, Forbes entered the new media arena with the launch of Forbes.com, which now averages 18 million unique monthly visitors.  Other Forbes web sites include: ForbesWoman.com; RealClearPolitics.com; RealClearMarkets.com; RealClearSports.com and RealClearWorld.com. Together with Forbes.com, these sites reach nearly 20 million business decision-makers each month.

The Free Enterprise Society, a student-run academic society, provides the OSU community with speakers, faculty-student dinner/discussion groups, networking events, and other educational activities. The Society is non-partisan and does not engage in any form of political advocacy. It is sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, which was chartered by OSU President Burns Hargis and the OSU Board of Regents in February of 2015. Young America’s Foundation is committed to introducing thousands of American youth to the principles of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise and traditional values through conferences, seminars, educational materials, internships and speakers, such as Steve Forbes.
