More than 250 fraternity and sorority members will take the Seretean Center Concert Hall stage Feb. 24-27 to perform song and dance routines at Oklahoma State University’s Varsity Revue.

Varsity Revue is an annual OSU vocal stage performance where Greek pairings prepare choreographed shows at a competitive level to raise money and awareness for the United Way. The four shows are scheduled nightly at 7 p.m.  with winners being announced following the Feb. 27 performance.  Tickets for VR are $12 and are available to purchase at okstate.showclix.com.

During the fall semester, about 10 pairings try out to be a part of the final VR show. Seven pairings are selected to perform in the show. Performances are professionally judged on vocals, choreography, theme, costumes and entertainment value.

Millie Van Horn, VR graduate teaching assistant, is excited for students and the community to support a worthy cause in such an entertaining way.

“The show is an opportunity for audiences to enjoy a production the students have worked for months to perfect,” Van Horn said. “This showcase of talents brings the community together to benefit a local philanthropy.”

In addition to the performers, VR is made possible by the executive director, Rebecca Henry, and co-assistant executive directors, Whitney Bruneau and Grant McClendon, as well as a hard-working steering committee. Last year, the program raised about $20,000, and this year’s goal is to raise more than $25,000 for the United Way. This year, each pairing will also host its own philanthropy event to raise additional monies to contribute to the United Way goal.

This is the 88th year of OSU students serving others through their talents by participating in the show. Varsity Revue is sponsored by the Oklahoma State University Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. An executive team and steering members organize and plan all aspects of VR.
