Wednesday, November 7, 2018
The deadline for Phase 1 submissions for the Oklahoma State University 7th Annual From Research to App Competition has been extended to Nov. 9. The OSU App Center competition is open to current OSU students, faculty and staff and offers a total of $11,500 in prize money.
The From Research to App Competition reflects the importance of research at OSU and calls for ideas that will use scientific and scholarly knowledge to solve a significant problem for a user via a mobile app. The competition is co-sponsored by the Division of the Vice President for Research and the Riata Center for Entrepreneurship in the Spears School of Business.
The competition is divided into two phases, and the App Center is now accepting entries for the first phase. In it, anyone can submit app ideas. The App Center staff will choose the top 10 mobile app ideas to pitch in front of judges who select a winner and runner-up. The Phase I winner receives $2,000, while the runner-up is awarded $1,000. Each of the remaining top five entrants wins $500. Phase II is open for developers to develop apps from the winning ideas from Phase I. The App Center will assist with the development and commercialization of the overall winning app idea.
The deadline for Phase I submissions is Nov. 2 with the winning entries announced Nov. 26 following a short description of the ideas to judges.
