Internet Sensation “Melodica Men” to Perform Socially Distanced Concert at The McKnight Center

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts will re-open with its first concert of the 2020-2021 season with a performance by the Melodica Men on September 20.

The performance is the first in the center’s new Family Series programming, which features fun concerts designed for all ages. Ticket prices are minimal with the intent to make it easier for entire families to attend.

Melodica Men features the talents of musical duo Tristan Clarke and Joe Buono, graduates of the Juilliard School and Peabody Conservatory. Known for their original interpretations of well-known classical and popular songs arranged for the melodica, their creative musical videos are viral internet sensations, each garnering millions of views.

Their live show upholds the integrity of classical music while making it fun and accessible, and also includes a wide variety of genres from video game music to rock.

“With their hilarious approach to distinctive music, The Melodica Men are the perfect duo to introduce our new Family Series,” said Marilynn and Carl Thoma Executive Director Mark Blakeman. “The arts are for all ages, and we’re excited to welcome a new generation of arts patrons to our center to experience this live concert. We expect to see lots of dancing and singing along!”

While in Stillwater, the Melodica Men will also provide a Young People’s Concert for 7th- and 8th-grade students in Stillwater Public Schools. This concert will take place virtually, with the Melodica Men streaming live to students either in their classrooms or at home learning remotely.

For music students at Oklahoma State University’s Greenwood School of Music, the Melodica Men will lead a masterclass in entrepreneurial leadership in the music business and entertainment industries.

Safety Precautions

Melodica Men will be presented as a socially distanced concert to comply with CDC (Centers for Disease Control) safety guidelines.

Tickets will be limited to 200 guests or fewer and sold in seating pods of two tickets per household with 6 feet of distance between each seating pod. Larger seating pods are available upon request and are only for families and groups who have been sheltering together.

Masks are required by guests and staff during each event. Hand sanitizing stations will be posted throughout the lobby, and frequent disinfecting of high-touch surfaces will increase. All staff have undergone COVID-19 testing prior to re-opening the building for the season. They will also be screened for symptoms and have their temperatures checked prior to the start of the event.

Melodica Men: Sunday, September 20, 2020, 3 P.M.

Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child (ages 12 and younger), plus taxes and fees.
