OSU Foundation ranked among the top nonprofits to work for

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

The Oklahoma State University Foundation was selected as the second Best Nonprofit to Work For in 2020 among mid-sized organizations and fifth overall by The NonProfit Times. The Best Companies Group partnered with The NonProfit Times to identify nonprofit organizations across the country where leaders have excelled in creating quality workplaces.

“It is incredible that our organization has again been recognized on a national level for our dedication to our mission and our employees,” said Kirk Jewell, OSU Foundation president. “Knowing this ranking is largely based on employee satisfaction surveys only solidifies our priority as an employee-centered culture.”

The OSU Foundation has shown exceptional dedication to being one of the premier nonprofits in the country to work for. The organization adds this year’s honor to our 2012 ranking in OKC Business Magazine and 2016 rankings as the number one medium-sized nonprofit and number two overall organization in The NonProfit Times.

The leadership of the OSU Foundation sets big goals to benefit the students, faculty and programs at Oklahoma State University, while maintaining high-performance metrics and an environment that embraces the goals and lives of the staff.

“Our goal is to ‘exceed expectations and have fun doing it.’ With this goal in mind, we are able to provide an exceptional work environment while still maintaining best-of-class success,” Jewell said.

The OSU Foundation leadership team has taken great strides to maintain the culture and enhance it whenever possible. In the past, they’ve created focus groups to ensure employees have a positive work/life balance, believe in the organization’s mission and most importantly, feel their work is making a difference.

To further build employee morale and camaraderie, the Foundation promotes celebrations and fun whenever possible. As holidays big and small arrive throughout the year, there are activities happening, fun messages sent around and family-oriented post-work events.

This number two ranking not only reflects the hard work and dedication the Foundation has put in on behalf of its employees, but also the overwhelmingly positive impact that work has had on each employee.

To be considered for participation, organizations had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year;
  • Must be a nonprofit organization with 501 (c)(3) status;
  • Have a facility in the United States;
  • Have a minimum of 15 employees in the United States; and,
  • An organization may enter as a group of nonprofits or as an individual organization as long as each participating organization is a separate legal entity (separate subsidiary). Branch offices may not enter separately from their parent nonprofit unless they are separate legal entities.
