New Dean selected for the College of Education and Human Sciences
Friday, February 26, 2021
From the Provost:
It gives me great pleasure to announce that pending approval by the OSU/A&M Board of Regents at their meeting on Friday, March 5, the position of Dean, College of Education and Human Sciences, has been filled.
Dr. Jon E. Pedersen is currently at the University of South Carolina where he serves as Dean of the College of Education and is a tenured Professor of Instruction and Teacher Education. He and his wife, Conni, are very excited about becoming part of the OSU community, and he is expected to transition to OSU on or about July 1, 2021.
Dr. Pedersen is one of three finalists who participated in an intensive 2.5 day virtual interview process following a national search that began early last Fall. The interview process included virtual interviews with a larger semifinalist group, full campus interviews held virtually, and directed and non-directed reference calls. Dr. Pedersen received significant support from the many individuals and groups, both internal and external, involved in the interview process.
I would like to thank Vice President Thomas Coon and members of the Search and Screening Committee for their efforts to recruit an outstanding pool of candidates. I am confident we succeeded in identifying the individual best suited to lead the College of Education and Human Sciences, and I look forward to Dr. Pedersen joining the Academic Affairs leadership team. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Pedersen on his new position at OSU!
