Oklahoma State University announced updates to the offices dedicated to supporting our military-affiliated, nontraditional and transfer student communities.

As part of OSU’s ongoing commitment to supporting its students, these offices have evolved into two distinct areas with new names and enhanced missions.

Military-Affiliated Student Support

The office formerly known as Student Veteran Success has been renamed Military-Affiliated Student Support. This change reflects OSU’s dedication to serving the diverse spectrum of its military community both on and off campus. The term "military-affiliated" encompasses Veterans, Active and Reserve duty service members, National Guard members, military family members, spouses and children of military personnel and ROTC Cadets. This approach aims to better represent and address the unique needs of each group, ensuring broader engagement and accessibility to resources.

OSU recognizes that while veterans form a core part of the community, active duty, reserve, National Guard members and military families also face distinct challenges. The office will be able to aid a broader spectrum of military personnel in challenges such as relocations and adjusting between military and civilian cultures. By renaming the office, OSU strives to acknowledge every facet of its military-affiliated population and enhance the community’s connection and support.

Vincent Rivera will continue to lead this initiative within Campus Life. OSU invites all students to visit the Military Affiliated Student Support Center in Room 061 in the Student Union Basement, for personalized assistance and resources.

Nontraditional and Transfer Student Support

Additionally, the office previously known as Transfer Student Success has been rebranded as Nontraditional and Transfer Student Support. This change highlights OSU’s dedication to nontraditional and transfer students, providing a focused environment for their unique needs.

Nontraditional students, who often return to education later in life after a significant gap, bring a wealth of life experience and a strong motivation to succeed. OSU is excited to welcome Kiera Brunson as the new coordinator of Nontraditional and Transfer Student Support, who will assist and support students in Room 211 of the Student Union.

These updates are part of OSU’s broader effort to provide comprehensive and welcoming support to all students. Additional student services offered through Campus Life include first-generation students, students with experiences in the foster care system, off-campus student services, basic needs resources including Pete’s Pantry and case management services.

OSU looks forward to continuing to serve its entire community and encourages everyone to take advantage of the resources available in its newly named offices.
